Wear the Ghost

With the onset of PJ permanence, I started thinking a lot about why I get dressed in the first place. Lately, putting on jeans with nowhere to go has felt like I’m trying to betray my body in some way. Still, sometimes you just gotta not feel like a total Lazy Bones-Jones, ya know?

I remember this movie from when I was a kid. This girl died, and if that wasn’t bad enough, she died wearing her cheerleading uniform and was forced to wear that thing every freakin day for eternity! I mean, one outfit forever? Total torment. Then I started thinking, what if I got stuck in these lazy day clothes that I put on because “I’m just running to the store for a second. It doesn’t matter.”

You know what? It totally matters! We can look fierce and fabulous every day. I know you, like me, have a closet full of fabulous clothes that you never wear for this reason or that. So what I’m saying is let’s just freaking do it! We’re stuck here at home, so let’s experiment and come out looking like we always wished we could.

Getting Dressed on Purpose

I’m not a crazy person, I know there are days you don’t feel like it, days you just want to wear your sweats and never leave the house, and that’s totally fine.

I’m not saying I don’t have lazy days, I call my sweats with pockets my “business pants,” so yes, I am very in touch with my inner potato. But you know what? I have a matching top and winter Crocs to match those pants, making it a fantastic laziness ensemble of couch-surfing dreams, and I’m my own sloth-city icon.

Getting dressed isn’t the idea that you can never be cozy. It’s the idea that if you just set an intention for the day and put two more minutes into defining your look, you’ll feel it.

We’ve been over this before when you look good, you feel good. That’s the whole point of this thing! I know that if I put in a teeny bit of effort and get dressed with purpose on purpose, I feel good the whole day. That’s certainly worth the extra two minutes.

We all need a little kick in the pants sometimes, a message from the universe telling us to spice it up! Well, if you’re reading this, then message delivered! I love an opportunity to shake it up.

Lately, that uptick spicy kick I’ve needed is my new mantra, “Wear the Ghost!” It’s the new Carpe Diem, and I hope you’ll join me on a journey to fabulosity!

Define the Ghost

There are so many fabulous humans out there dressing to the nines, or even just the fives, but doing it with intention every day! I love these people, they give me the inspiration to be the best me I can be.

You get to define what the Ghost is to you. It doesn’t mean wearing a bunch of makeup or fancy clothes or spending two hours getting ready. It means this morning you woke up, looked today in the face, and said, “Let’s do this!” Let’s take this opportunity to try something new, and together we can emerge from this bitch like the baddies we are!

There’s inspiration all around us. I see people every day who are just out there crushing it and looking ghostly as hell while they do it! Find your light in the mirror, and do the best you that you can do!

Ladies and Ghouls

Wearing the Ghost means I meant to be here, I showed up like this, and I respect you and myself, and here I am in all my glory.

We’re all just a bunch of sexy nutcases walkin’ this earth together, so let’s spread that love around. Let’s put a little purpose in our purses, and let’s wear that ghoulish glitter inside and out!

Today is the first day of many like it, some better, some not so much. This is my way of saying that it all starts with you.

You put the energy you feel into the universe, and the universe responds in kind. Love yourself and spread a little of that love to someone else.

I hope you’ll join me in letting in the inner goth in thinking, “What if I died today?” Let’s wear the Ghost. Let’s look good as hell all the time because we freaking can.

Yes we can! I love it! I have outfits that I have never worn because I’m waiting for the perfect event or place to wear them to. Why? Why not wear them now? I may never get the chance if I keep waiting. I’m gonna do it! They make me feel good so why not. I even have some beautiful blue suede shoes i can spice up a pair of jeans with. Thanks for the inspiration.
